Toshes – The Mask We Wear

Toshes – The Mask We Wear
Self released – 2014
Rock, Alternative, Pop
Rated: ***

It’s not just alternative rock or hard rock or a little stoner with a pop sensible edge. No, these cats also implore some heavy metal, psychedelic influences and something straight out of the eighties. And let’s not forget about that funky or even reggae edge and punky attitude. Yes, the Toshes quartet is a damn weird animal and one that goes every which way but lose on their first EP The Mask We Wear.  Four distinctively different tracks with the same equalizer; a damn eerie or strange voice screaming or singing it all together. With battering drums or bouncing guitars these green clowns don’t seem to care for much else than bringing the weirdness to your doorstep; like the merry pranksters they are. It’s the fun bus and the only possible option is to get on board, buy the ticket and take the ride. It’s carnival time! And then they go ahead and release Smoker Man, not featured on this EP, but which can be heard on the YouTube link below. Do it. Cause it is probably even a lot better; with or without a mask!
